This excursion begins visiting a traditional loom where local artists create incredible cotton hand waved clothes, rugs, hammocks, carpets and much more artisan products using wood made looms. We will continue our tour visiting a house built with the most traditional Oaxacan style, where the house keeper will explain you all the steps involved on the production of the legendary "mezcal", the original and most traditional liquor representative of the state of Oaxaca. After this interesting explanation, you will have the chance to try and taste a sample of the more than 25 varieties of Mezcal, from the strong distillated to the soft and delicate cream of coffee. On this place you'll be able to try also samples of the traditional Oaxacan cuisine, plenty of exotic and delicious meals as grasshoppers toasted with salt and soft chili, mole, a tasteful blend of mani and other seeds with different varieties of chili and cocoa, the famous Oaxacan chocolate, and many other local meals. The next stop on this interesting tour is a visit to the church dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the most beloved and adored by the Mexican catholic people. On the roof of this church, located in the main park of the downtown, you will have the opportunity of admiring the world largest paint of the virgin, registered on the Guinness Records. This master piece was painted by the master Jose del Signo, and is plenty of symbols and signs that symbolize the blend of the Spanish and pre-Hispanic cultures thru the religion. To finish this visit to the downtown, you will have time to visit the stores surrounding the main square, where you'll find a wide variety of handcrafts in wood, silver, black pottery all they representative of the Oaxaca State culture and traditions. On the second stage of this tour, you will stop on two different viewpoints: the first one overlooks the beautiful bay of Santa Cruz, and the second one offers an amazing view of the resort area of Tangolunda Bay.
